Yanni.. The Wifebeater..

Ok Ladies..  You know at some time or another you've listened to Yanni, and just wished that your man was as sensitive as he was, while your man was happy wishing that Yanni would fall off of a tall cliff.

Fact is,  your man is probably right..  Yanni is up on domestic abuse charges..

New Orleans Links

(Ok, I really need to add more topics. None of the existing ones really fit, but y'know..)

Here's a collection of links that you probably won't see in the news
about the tragegy in New Orleans. Some good, some bad, some
ugly. All interesting.

25 Mind-Numbingly Stupid Quotes About Hurricane Katrina And Its Aftermath

Gas Prices..

One word. OUCH!!!

From the LFpress:

The regulated price increases meant gas was retailing in St. John's at about $1.34.

In Charlottetown, the price rose as high as $1.36.

In Halifax it was at $1.39.

Those heading out to coastal Labrador had to be ready to dig
deep. Gas there was going for almost $1.63 a litre.

Reflections

Ok, a guy named Milton Glaser (a designer of some sort) presented a speech titled "10 Things I have Learned" at the AIGA Voice Conference in 2002. It's ten life lessons learned, and even though I don't know who he is, he sure bummed me out. :)

Well, what are you waiting for? Join me in my bumedness.

There are too many points in there that give cause to pause and reflect, and since I agree a whole bunch, but my current life path doesn't follow many of them, I opened a beer instead..

Ahh, that Explains it.. Hes from LA....

Ok, now let's say that I'm from a tropical part of the world (say California), and I had the urge to sneak into canada over land, wouldn't you think that I'd know that it gets cold up here, this time of year? I mean, either wait till spring, or at very least, check the damn weather channel first..

I mean, the guy was in Manitoba wearing gloves for petes sake... While better than nothing, gloves in Manitoba in winter?

Away from Rogers Hidden Bandwidth Caps..

Edit Just so as not to bitch about rogers again, it would appear that Rogers isn't the only cable provider with hidden caps./Edit

That's it.

I know Im too late...

But on the smoking bylaw, (the folks who decided against designated smoking rooms), here's who voted how..

HOW THEY VOTED

- In favour of smoking bylaws that prohibit designated smoking rooms:

Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco, Deputy Mayor Russ Monteith, Controllers Gord Hume and Joe Swan, Councillors David Winninger, Rob Alder, Sandy Levin, Harold Usher, Ed Corrigan, Joni Baechler, Susan Eagle and Bill Armstrong.

- Opposed to the bylaws, meaning they support designated smoking rooms:

Biker Gangs

I just finished reading this article. In it, it discusses the content of a book: "The Road to Hell: How the Biker Gangs Are Conquering Canada".

I haven't read the book. Only the article. And the funny part is that they completely miss the point. Why did Mel take a vest from the HA? Why do communities not rise up against them? The answer is easy.

More on the Duplicate Letters

A few days ago, the story broke that the same "good news" letter, puportedly from US soldiers in Iraq, had been sent to 500 newspapers in the names of various soldiers.

Well, here's more on the story, though ibe warned.. It's a wee bit biased, and is rather conspiracy-based. Either way.. It raises some interesting points..

Not Just CNN..

Well, it appears that the American Propaganda Machine isn't just using CNN to "get it's message out".

In this article, it details how the same news service recieved the same letter from two different soldiers.
